The Shift Project

The Shift Project, is a multi-disciplinary performance project that combines movement, poetry and sound to explore shifting perspectives and considers the question: How do context and proximity affect meaning/understanding?

The Shift Project is supported by Kinetic Works NC Choreographer’s Residency Project.

Virtual Dance Discovery Club - November 4, 6:30 PM

Join SCDP and the NC Dance Festival as we delve into dance in this virtual program – like a book club, but for dance. Participants will watch and discuss short dance works by Sarah Council Dance Projects, finding new ways to appreciate and explore the world of dance and building new connections with a wider community of dance lovers and dance professionals. Whether you have years of experience with dance or none at all, you are welcome in this group! Want to attend? Limited to 20 participants. so reserve your spot today. 

Culture Blocks: Dancing the Poem: a FREE VIRTUAL Collaborative Movement and Poetry Writing Workshop

Dancing the Poem is an online collaborative movement and poetry writing workshop that will engage participants in an exploration of the poetic form through movement. Directed by dance educator and choreographer, Sarah Council, participants will experience both poetry and dance as powerful modes of expression that utilize imagery, emotion, and rhythm. All levels of experience and ability welcome!

The Shift Project and Other Stories The Shift Project and Other Stories is a contemporary dance performance that includes The Shift Project: Phase 1 a multi-layered, inquiry-based collaboration between, movement (Sarah Council Dance Projects), poetry (de”Angelo Dia) and music (Ron Parks) that considers the questions: How does context affect meaning?
